Rupreets grow in plants!
Just by looking at their tails you will instantly know wich seeds were used for them to grow.
In the forest, there are tiny berries that grow in a very specific tree: The Rubyleaf Tree.
Younger rupreets are not able to see it but once they are mature enough they can spot these trees very easily, and are captivated by the sweet scent of a berry.
For a rupreet to grow there should be a male and a female mature rupreet standing by the tree.
They both eat the same berry together.
The male will then lick all of the seeds, to make them able to grow a baby rupreet, and the female takes one leaf from the tree and wraps the seeds with it.
After that, together, they dig a hole in the ground and bury the seeds.
During night time, after 3 months, a tiny plant will grow on the spot, and in a full moon a baby rupreet egg-like berry will pop up.
The baby rupreet will then try to free itself from the egg and start walking inmediatly. It can follow the scent of its parents to find the village. Once there, it is received with some kind of ceremony!
It is a bit hard for a baby rupreet to survive on their way to the village, since there are predators and other dangers around and so not all of the babies make it. This is just to make sure that only the strongest ones are the ones who get to the village. It may sound cruel, but it's just how nature works for them.
Another fact is that rupreets don't really have brothers or sisters. Once buried, some seeds just don't grow, they wait for one of them to grow a rupreet. And once the baby rupreet is born, the other seeds merge into one and grow a new Rubyleaf Tree instead. And so the cycle begins again.
